Lindy Chooses Deepseek: Millions Saved Against Anthropic
The AI startup Lindy has completely abandoned Claude in favor of Deepseek, allowing it to save millions as cost pressures mount at Anthropic.
Anthropic must hurry to prepare for its IPO. OpenAI has apparently already missed its optimal window and postponed its IPO. Now, even Anthropic's explosive growth could come under pressure as companies tighten their AI budgets and turn to cheaper Chinese alternatives.
Lindy is one such example: CEO Flo Crivello has entirely switched from Claude to Deepseek, hosted by an American company on U.S. soil. The cost curve has "plummeted to the ground," enabling millions in savings, he told CNBC. The AI costs for this 25-person startup had become "unsustainable," even surpassing personnel costs. Crivello noted that he would return to Anthropic if prices dropped: "It's a matter of survival for the company."
A recent analysis by the CTO of Snowflake showed that affordable Chinese models like GLM-5.2 do not quite match Claude but are competitive and easily win in terms of value for money depending on the task. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently stated that the cost of AI has become a "huge problem" for companies with the recent shift to agent systems consuming large amounts of tokens.
