LinkedIn Dominates Long AI-Generated Content, Study Reveals
One in four social media posts over 250 words is generated by AI, according to an analysis by Pangram. LinkedIn ranks first, with 41% of long posts identified as written by AI. The platform accounted for only a third of all analyzed posts but made up nearly two-thirds of all detected AI content. On X/Twitter, nearly half of long articles were generated or assisted by AI. Substack displayed the lowest rate of long AI-generated content, at around 10%. Responses on Reddit were 98% written by humans, but standalone posts contained AI-generated text much more frequently.
The data comes from Pangram's Chrome extension, which analyzed over one million posts across five platforms between April and June 2026. The company claims that its Pangram 3 detection model has a false positive rate of 0.01%, but it is likely more effective at identifying human-written content than AI-generated content, so the actual AI rate could be even higher. The study makes no claims about the quality of the content, but LinkedIn appears to be feeling the pressure and has already begun cracking down on AI-generated posts.
