Lorde Critiques AI Ray-Ban Meta Glasses in Madrid
During her performance at the Real Cool Festival in Madrid, Lorde took a moment to express her dissatisfaction with AI glasses. Although she did not mention specific brands, it is likely she was targeting the festival's sponsor, Ray-Ban, which collaborated with Meta to create a pair of smart glasses.
The comments were captured in videos shared on social media. After thanking the audience for being present and participating in "something real," she stated that it was becoming increasingly difficult to know what is real or not, before adding: "You don't know if someone is wearing sunglasses or if they're wearing those fucking... Can I just say, for the record, fuck the glasses. Don't take the glasses. It's not sexy."
These remarks come as Meta faces renewed scrutiny over its smart glasses. Despite this controversy, the company still plans to launch a pair of "super sensitive" glasses that record continuously.
According to Stereogum, Lorde was followed on stage by Jennie from Blackpink, who is an ambassador for the AI Ray-Ban Meta glasses and has been featured in advertising campaigns on Instagram as well as in a video shown between performances at the Real Cool.
