Apple's New Guidelines and Their Implications
The launch of Lovable comes shortly after Apple clarified its guidelines regarding vibe-coding applications. Recently, Apple blocked updates for several popular vibe-coding tools, such as Replit and Vibecode, due to violations of its developer rules.
Apple does not prohibit vibe-coding apps per se, but imposes strict restrictions on those that download new code or modify their features after installation. These practices are considered potential risks to end-user security. Furthermore, they complicate the work of Apple's app review team, which must evaluate these applications during the approval process.
Adapting Applications to Apple's Requirements
As part of these new rules, Apple temporarily removed the Anything app from the App Store for similar reasons. However, the app was reinstated after making the necessary changes to comply with Apple's guidelines.
To adapt to these requirements, vibe-coding applications can no longer run their generated apps directly within the host app. Now, these app previews must be displayed via web browsers. Lovable appears to have integrated these changes, as its new app emphasizes transforming ideas into functional websites or web applications.
