During a business trip that was supposed to last a month, Max Fricke came up with the idea of creating an AI narrator. He dedicated many hours to training an artificial intelligence model to convincingly imitate his voice. His son, who is three years old, quickly embraced this technology and uses it both in his father's presence and in his absence.

The Toniebox already offered Max Fricke the possibility to record his voice so that his son could listen to it at any time. However, this tool did not allow for the creation of stories as dynamic and engaging as those they used to share together at bedtime.

Thus, Max Fricke envisioned a product capable of responding to his son's specific story requests, such as an adventure involving butterflies and dragons, all while using his own voice, even in his absence.

Although he is not a trained programmer, Max Fricke used Basecamp to develop an application. He experimented with tools like ChatGPT and Gemini to create prompts that generated more creative stories.

The most complex part of the project was cloning his voice. The term "cloning" may sound intimidating to some, but Max Fricke persevered. Initially, his son was skeptical of the AI-generated voice, as it did not sound exactly like his father's. However, over time and with adjustments, the synthetic voice became almost indistinguishable from the real one, achieving a 90% accuracy.

Today, his son enjoys the AI-narrated stories just as much as those told in person by his father. Max Fricke emphasizes that the application, which he named HuggleTales, is not intended to replace direct interactions like phone calls or video conferences. It is simply an additional tool to maintain a strong bond with his son.

The application also proves valuable when Max Fricke is tired. After a long day, it can be challenging to come up with a new story. In those moments, father and son can simply suggest a theme to the application and lie down together to listen to a story narrated in Max's familiar voice.

Ultimately, all the work and energy invested in this project have been motivated by Max Fricke's desire to remain present for his son, even from a distance. Thanks to this innovation, his son can now feel the comforting presence of his father, even when he is away.
