Mistral AI, often touted as the best AI in Europe, finds itself in an unexpected position in the LMArena ranking. Despite its reputation as an advanced model, Mistral Large 3 fails to break into the top ranks, coming in at 74th place with an Elo score of 1428. This model symbolizes a European success story in an industry dominated by the United States.

This ranking highlights the persistent dominance of American giants such as Google with Gemini, Anthropic with Claude, xAI with Grok, and OpenAI. These players occupy the top spots, leaving little room for new European entrants.

The Mistral Large 3 model is nonetheless presented as capable of handling complex reasoning tasks and assisting in content production. It is also emphasized for its abilities to structure texts, analyze data, and respond to demanding prompts.

The LMArena ranking is one of the most closely followed benchmarks for comparing AIs. Its principle is based on direct confrontation: a user poses a question, and two different AI models each generate a response. The user does not know which AI is behind each response during the evaluation.
