Meta recently acquired Moltbook, an innovative platform designed for AI agents, functioning similarly to Reddit. This strategic acquisition, reported by Axios, allows Meta to strengthen its capabilities in the field of AI agents.
The founders of Moltbook, Matt Schlicht and Ben Parr, will join Meta's Superintelligence Labs, under the leadership of Alexandr Wang, former CEO of Scale AI. Although the transaction amount has not been disclosed, the deal is expected to be finalized by mid-March.
Launched at the end of January, Moltbook provides a space where AI agents can verify their identity, interact, and coordinate tasks. The platform was primarily developed by Schlicht, with the assistance of his own AI assistant. According to a blog post obtained by Axios, Vishal Shah from Meta indicated that current users of Moltbook will be able to continue accessing the platform, but only temporarily.
This acquisition comes at a time when OpenAI has recently recruited Peter Steinberger, the creator of the OpenClaw agent framework, highlighting the intense competition in the field of AI agent technologies.
