Meta continues to innovate by integrating artificial intelligence directly into Facebook, transforming the way users interact with the social network. With a new search mode, users can now ask questions in natural language and receive answers generated from public posts, groups, and Reels. This advancement promises faster responses, but it also raises questions about the reliability of the displayed information.
Conversational Search Powered by AI
The traditional display of search results is on the verge of becoming obsolete on Facebook. With the launch of AI Mode, users can ask their questions directly, and Meta's chatbot synthesizes the answers based on available public content. Posts, group discussions, and Reels videos serve as the foundation for this new feature, making the search process smoother and more immediate.
This innovation follows the launch of Forum, an application inspired by community platforms, which already offered a question-and-answer system based on discussions from Facebook groups. However, the implementation of this technology is not without challenges.
The Question of Content Reliability
The new feature relies on content published by users themselves, meaning that the AI does not limit itself to summarizing journalistic or official sources. It also compiles personal opinions and experiences, which can sometimes lead to inaccurate information. This issue is not new, as Google has faced similar criticisms with its responses generated from Reddit.
Meta must therefore prove that its system can distinguish reliable information from popular rumors, a significant challenge for the company.
Expanding AI Features
AI Mode is not the only new feature on Facebook. The platform is also introducing several AI-assisted creation tools. Users can create collages, add automatic transitions to their videos, and even modify their appearance with new virtual clothing and accessories. These innovations complement a series of recently launched features, such as animated profile pictures and creator assistants.
In this way, Meta continues to expand artificial intelligence across its platform, seeking to enhance the user experience while addressing the challenges related to the accuracy of the information provided.
