Meta Introduces Pocket: A Revolution in Video Game Creation
Meta Platforms has recently unveiled Pocket, an innovative application that promises to transform any idea into an interactive mini-game using artificial intelligence. This app stands out for its ability to combine interactive creation with social networking features, all within a single platform.
With Pocket, Meta aims to make game creation accessible to everyone, without requiring programming skills. Users simply need to articulate their idea in a few words, and the app takes care of the rest by automatically generating a mini-game.
The Simplified Functionality of Pocket
The concept of Pocket is based on ease of use. Users describe their idea in a few words, and the app's artificial intelligence generates a mini-game, called a "gizmo," without the need for any coding. This approach allows anyone to easily create interactive experiences.
The created gizmos are then published in a vertical feed, similar to those of TikTok or Instagram Reels. Users can explore others' creations, test them quickly, and swipe to the next one with a simple gesture.
The mini-games are not limited to basic interactions. They can leverage smartphone features, such as device tilt, vibrations, sound effects, or even camera usage, to provide a more immersive experience.
A Social and Collaborative Dimension
Pocket does not just enable game creation; it also incorporates a social dimension. Each gizmo can be shared via a link or remixed by other users. These users have the option to modify the original concept to create their own version, making game creation as simple as posting a video on a social network.
Proven Technology at the Heart of Pocket
The launch of Pocket is built on already proven technology. Last March, Meta acquired the team from the startup Atma Sciences Inc., the creators of the Gizmo app. This acquisition allowed Meta to obtain a license for the "vibe-coding" technology, which automatically generates code from natural language instructions.
Before its integration by Meta, the Gizmo app had already achieved notable success, with over 14,000 ratings on the Apple App Store and an average rating of 4.9 out of 5. Pocket takes this technology and integrates it into a social environment designed to encourage discovery and sharing.
Currently, Pocket is available in certain regions via the Google Play Store. Meta also plans to promote the app on its other platforms to accelerate its adoption.
