Meta Launches Muse Voice in the U.S. and Prepares Muse Charm

The video chat with Muse, Meta's public AI agent, is now available to everyone in the United States. The company announces real-time support on mobile, web, and Mac, and promises a forthcoming arrival on its AI Glasses as well as on a future device called "Muse Charm." Additionally, a Tamagotchi-style wearable device is expected before the end of the year, featuring the avatar displayed on a small screen.
Real-time arrives on more screens and a dedicated device is planned
Meta specifies that real-time conversations with Muse are available on mobile, web, and Mac. The company plans to extend this feature to its AI Glasses and a future device called "Muse Charm." A Tamagotchi-style wearable device for the Muse AI agent is also anticipated before the end of the year. When this device launches, the digital avatar will appear on its small screen, allowing users to interact with the agent, which can respond or perform tasks.
A customizable animated avatar, powered by new models
The video chat relies on two new AI models, Muse Realtime Avatar and Muse Realtime Voice. Muse offers an animated avatar, nicknamed Jolly, with which users can ask questions or request actions. The avatar is customizable and can take on a human, animal, or other character appearance. Meta indicates that the avatar uses subtle expressions and gestures tailored to the tone of the conversation. According to the company, giving Muse a human or animal appearance could strengthen the bond between users and their agent, especially during live conversations.

Availability in the United States and public demonstration on X
Muse Voice is now accessible to all users in the United States, an announcement made on Thursday. The feature was initially introduced at Meta's Connect developer conference in September. The launch was shared in a blog post and on X by Alexandr Wang, Meta's AI director, who provided a demonstration. In the video, Wang jokes about his taste for memes on X, explaining to his Muse that it could have gotten him in trouble with his boss. His Muse, represented by a fluffy white dog, suggests adding warnings to memes that could be interpreted as Meta's endorsement of risky content. Furthermore, other AI players are already offering voice chat functions.
