Meta Acquires Moltbook, the Social Network for AI Agents

Meta recently announced the acquisition of Moltbook, a social network that operates like a Reddit-style forum, specifically dedicated to artificial intelligence agents. The creators of this platform, Matt Schlicht and Ben Parr, will join Meta's Superintelligence Labs, an initiative aimed at enhancing the company's capabilities in the field of AI.

This acquisition comes at a time when Peter Steinberger, the creator of Openclaw, has chosen to join OpenAI, despite Mark Zuckerberg's attempts to lure him to Meta. Although Zuckerberg was unable to convince Steinberger, he successfully brought the founders of Moltbook onto his team.

A spokesperson for Meta stated that the arrival of the Moltbook team within the Superintelligence Labs opens new avenues for the development of AI agents serving individuals and businesses. Moltbook's innovative approach, which connects agents through a continuously active directory, is seen as a significant advancement in a rapidly evolving sector.

Alexandr Wang, Meta's AI director, plays a central role in reorganizing the company's artificial intelligence efforts. Recruited for an impressive $14 billion as part of an investment in Scale AI, Wang is at the helm of Meta's AI initiatives.

Moltbook is designed to operate alongside OpenClaw, an open-source AI agent that has captivated many technology enthusiasts. While Mark Zuckerberg attempted to attract Peter Steinberger, the latter ultimately joined OpenAI. However, Zuckerberg assured that the development of OpenClaw would continue.

For now, Meta has not disclosed the amount of the acquisition of Moltbook, and this information remains to be seen.
