Microsoft has recently enhanced its Copilot tool in Word with features specifically targeting professionals in the legal, financial, and compliance sectors. These new capabilities include word-level change tracking, allowing for increased transparency and easier document review.
Users can now manage comments directly within the text, a feature that simplifies collaboration and communication within shared documents. Additionally, Copilot enables the insertion of tables of contents and the configuration of headers and footers with dynamic fields, such as page numbers.
For multi-step editing processes, Copilot displays ongoing tasks in real-time, providing immediate visibility into the actions taken. These features rely on "Work IQ," a technological layer that tailors responses based on the user and their organization, while adhering to Microsoft 365's security standards.
Currently, these new features are available only on the Windows desktop through the Frontier program of the Office Insiders beta channel. Microsoft plans to extend support to the web version and Mac soon. This announcement comes shortly after Anthropic launched a similar plugin for Word, based on its chatbot Claude.
