Microsoft announces that general public users will lose access to Group Chats, AI-generated podcasts, experimental features from Copilot Labs, and Deep Research in Copilot starting August 18, 2026. For paying business customers, the Researcher feature is expected to at least replace Deep Research. The company specifies that files created via the standalone Copilot app will be transferred to OneDrive. It also indicates that other features may temporarily disappear during the transition and that the animated character Mico will be discontinued.
