Launched a few days ago, Claude Fable 5, an artificial intelligence developed by Anthropic, has already attracted attention due to its performance in programming, cybersecurity, and complex reasoning. However, Microsoft has temporarily restricted its use by its employees, citing concerns about data retention by Anthropic.
Claude Fable 5 is part of the Mythos family and retains interactions with its users for at least 30 days for security reasons. Some content may be kept for up to two years for investigations or legal obligations. Microsoft's compliance teams are worried that confidential information could be shared with the model, which led to this decision to restrict access.
Microsoft has also begun to reduce the use of certain Anthropic tools internally, preferring to direct its developers towards in-house solutions like GitHub Copilot. This strategy aims to maintain maximum control over its data and invest in its own AI ecosystems.
Before its general release, Claude Fable 5 was accessible to a limited number of partners, as Anthropic deemed its capabilities particularly powerful. Mythos 5 and Fable 5 would outperform several industry benchmarks in numerous tests, making Microsoft's decision all the more notable.
