On March 26, an update was deployed to improve the management of inactive sessions in Claude Code. The goal was to reduce latency by clearing old data from sessions inactive for over an hour. However, a bug caused the data to be cleared with each interaction, making Claude Code repetitive and seemingly forgetful.
This issue has been particularly frustrating for users who, like the report's author, often leave sessions inactive for long periods. With 11 stagnant sessions ongoing, the author found themselves spending more time managing these sessions than creating new ones.
