Mistral AI Aims for a Massive Fundraising

The French startup specializing in artificial intelligence, Mistral AI, is currently negotiating an ambitious fundraising round of 3 billion euros. This operation could value the company at around 20 billion euros, according to information reported by Bloomberg. Discussions with investors are still in the preliminary stages, and the final valuation could evolve depending on investor interest.

Last September, Mistral had already reached a valuation of 11.7 billion euros. On that occasion, chipmaker ASML took a significant stake of 11%, becoming the main shareholder of the startup.

A European Alternative to American Giants

Mistral AI positions itself as a credible alternative to American AI providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic. Despite a notable lag in terms of user numbers, the company continues to develop its technological capabilities. It recently introduced Mistral Medium 3.5, a flagship model that integrates chat, reasoning, and programming features.

Additionally, Mistral has decided to rename its chatbot from "Le Chat" to "Vibe," in order to better reflect its focus on more autonomous workflows.

Infrastructure and European Expansion

Mistral AI is focusing its efforts on developing AI infrastructure for European governments and industrial companies such as Airbus and BMW. To support this strategy, the company operates its own data centers in France and Sweden. It recently secured a loan of 830 million dollars to finance the construction of a new data center near Paris, thereby enhancing its capacity to provide high-performance services.
