Mistral AI has recently rebranded its chatbot "LeChat" to "Vibe," marking a strategic shift in the evolution of its artificial intelligence services. This name change comes with a transformation of the product into a comprehensive work tool, integrating advanced features to meet the needs of professionals. Existing conversations and settings are preserved, but the pricing is new.
The work mode is the central element of Vibe, which integrates with Google Workspace, Outlook, SharePoint, Slack, or GitHub. It performs tasks by scanning inboxes, extracting figures from a spreadsheet, building a report, and transferring it to Notion or SharePoint. Before the agent begins, it presents its plan and waits for a green light. Each step can be expanded and verified. Skills save recurring workflows as templates, similar to what Anthropic deployed for Claude last year.
The Code Mode places programming agents in isolated environments. They build features, fix bugs, write tests, and open a pull request when they are finished. Sessions run in parallel, survive a closed laptop, and can be launched from Slack starting in June. To support this, Mistral offers a new VS Code extension and an update to the CLI with a /teleport command that moves ongoing sessions and their history between the terminal and the cloud.
Vibe is available in four pricing tiers: Free, Pro at €14.99 per month, Team at €24.99 per user per month, and Enterprise with a custom rate. Mistral applies taxes for all plans. Students receive a 50% discount on the Pro plan, while the Team plan is offered at €19.99 per user with annual billing. However, the precise details of usage limits remain unclear. Mistral shares figures, but only in multiples of the free plan: up to six times more messages, up to 40 times more image generations. The company never specifies what the actual limits of the free plan are. Specific figures exist only for a few items, such as 15 gigabytes of storage instead of "limited." The Pro and Team plans have identical usage limits, but the Team plan adds more storage, domain verification, data export, and administration tools for shared workspaces.
The distinction between terms like "complex tasks" and "deep reasoning" is also vague. There is, however, a technical reason: Mistral Medium 3.5 can switch between a fast mode and a more in-depth mode via reasoning_effort. A free experimentation plan is available in Mistral Studio.
The name "Vibe" already existed, by the way. Until the rebranding, it was Mistral's coding tool, available as a paid feature on Pro and Team since Vibe 2.0. The coding interface can be found at code.mistral.ai. Over the past year, Le Chat has gradually integrated Deep Research, a voice mode, image editing, MCP integrations, and a memory function. The coding setup with parallel sandbox agents is not unique. OpenAI has Codex, Anthropic has Claude in browser mode, and Cursor manages entire fleets of agents in its third version.
