Nvidia, the semiconductor giant, is preparing to raise a colossal sum of $20 billion through a bond issuance. This initiative, reported by Bloomberg, marks Nvidia's first bond issuance of this kind since 2021. The manufacturer is offering bonds divided into seven tranches, with maturities ranging from two to 30 years. The longest tranche has a spread of about 0.9 percentage points above U.S. Treasury bonds.
The funds raised will be used to meet the company's general needs, including refinancing its existing debt. To orchestrate this large-scale operation, Nvidia has enlisted heavyweights from the finance sector such as JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, and Goldman Sachs.
This fundraising effort is part of a broader trend where tech companies, like Alphabet and Amazon, have raised hundreds of billions of dollars since last year. These funds are primarily aimed at enhancing their computing capabilities for artificial intelligence. Nvidia's last bond issuance dates back to June 2021, when it raised $5 billion.
