OpenAI introduces ChatGPT for Financial Services, a version of ChatGPT Work designed for the finance sector. The offering integrates premium data feeds hosted by OpenAI, has been developed in collaboration with Morgan Stanley and Evercore, and is already in the hands of an initial group of institutions. It arrives in the wake of Financial Analysis Solution, announced by Anthropic in July.

A Limited Rollout and an Established Rival

ChatGPT for Financial Services is already being offered to a group of financial institutions. OpenAI clarifies that the product still needs improvement. This version of ChatGPT, designed to function as a financial analyst, is presented as a direct competitor to Financial Analysis Solution, a product announced by Anthropic in July.

Integrated Premium Data Hosted by OpenAI

The specialized version includes direct access to data from Daloopa, PitchBook, LSEG News, and Crunchbase. These datasets are indexed and hosted directly by OpenAI, which spares client companies from using MCP connectors in these use cases. It is also possible to combine premium sources with a company's internal data. According to OpenAI, the MCP connector now offers better performance in cases where it is still necessary to rely on an external service. AI models like GPT-6 Astra are mentioned among those benefiting from this data access. In finance, the quality of the data source is considered as important as the performance of the AI model.

Targeting Banks and Investors, and the Promise of an Automated "Analyst"

The solution explicitly targets banks and investment firms. For its development, OpenAI collaborated with Morgan Stanley and Evercore, indicating that this partnership helped identify priority needs and guide solutions useful for bankers' daily work. The stated goal is to enhance the productivity of financial firms through AI specialized in analysis. Nick Turley, head of ChatGPT at OpenAI, explains that the tool is trained to conduct research like an analyst and to support its conclusions in a similar manner. Announced this week, ChatGPT for Financial Services aims to combine ChatGPT models with suitable sources to ensure reliable work. Generative AI is already widely used in the finance sector.
