OpenAI Codex: 'Record & Replay' for Automation

OpenAI has launched a new feature called Record & Replay for the Codex application on macOS. Users can guide the AI agent through a workflow once, such as downloading a YouTube video with metadata, a thumbnail, and subtitles. Codex transforms this recording into a reusable "skill" and can then autonomously repeat the process.

The feature is not yet available in the EU, the UK, or Switzerland, and requires the Computer Use option to be enabled. This option has been available in the EU since June 16.

Among the new features in version 26.616: batch actions for automation history, as well as the ability to transfer threads between a local host and a remote host to continue tasks on a connected machine. Codex is OpenAI's AI agent for automating coding and office tasks. The application is free to download, but a paid ChatGPT account is necessary to make real use of it.
