OpenAI has announced a radical shift in the direction of ChatGPT, marking the end of the era of simple chatbots. According to a senior executive at the company, the goal is to transform ChatGPT into an application of autonomous agents capable of handling various tasks independently. This overhaul represents the most significant transformation of the tool since its launch in 2022.
The new version of ChatGPT will be a "superapp" integrating various tools, including coding capabilities, as well as collaborations with companies such as Canva and Booking. Thibault Sottiaux, product director at OpenAI, stated that the application will become a personal agent capable of assisting users in all aspects of their lives, both personal and professional.
In the coming weeks, OpenAI plans to redesign the web and mobile interface of ChatGPT. New features will include coding tools, image generation, and partner applications. Ultimately, AI models are expected to learn to anticipate users' needs autonomously. The development teams for ChatGPT, Codex, and other products have already been consolidated under Sottiaux's leadership.
