OpenAI Launches GPT-6 Astra, Adjusts Quotas in Response to GPT-5.6

GPT-6 Astra is now available for Pro, Business Premium, and Enterprise customers, including via the API as well as on Azure and Bedrock. The standard version delivers about half the number of messages per window compared to GPT-5.6 Sol, with specific caps per plan. Plus and Business subscribers will have to wait a few more days, while Free and Go tiers remain excluded.

Standard Astra Delivers About Half the Messages of Sol

The standard version of GPT-6 Astra delivers a number of messages over a five-hour period that is roughly half of what is offered by GPT-5.6 Sol, and this is the case across the board. For Plus users, the range is from 5 to 45 messages with Astra, compared to 10 to 100 with Sol. On the Pro 20x plan, the announced scale is 100 to 900 messages for Astra, versus 200 to 2,000 for Sol. OpenAI specifies that the volume actually available depends on the model, the length of context, reasoning, tool usage, and caching. Free and Go tiers do not have access to GPT-5.6 Sol or GPT-6 Astra.

Expanded Availability on ChatGPT and via API, Azure, and Bedrock

GPT-6 Astra is enabled for Pro, Enterprise, and Business Premium plans of ChatGPT, via ChatGPT Work and Codex. The model is also offered through OpenAI's API and deployed on Microsoft Azure and AWS Bedrock. Users on Plus and Business plans are expected to gain access in the coming days. OpenAI further presents GPT-6 Astra as being offered at half the price compared to GPT-5.6 Sol for premium plans.

Quotas by Plan and Sharing Between Astra Pro and Sol Pro

Users subscribed to Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans also have access to GPT-6 Astra Pro, with consumption deducted from existing quotas. For the $200 Pro plan, 200 weekly messages are included for GPT-6 Pro, while the $100 Pro plan includes 50 messages per week. Business Premium holders benefit from 50 messages each week, and Business Standard has a limit of 15 messages monthly. In terms of distribution, a weekly allocation of 200 messages coexists with a separate limit of 170 messages per day for GPT-5.6 Sol Pro, with the combined daily total of both models capped at 200. Other plans share 50 messages per week between GPT-6 Pro and GPT-5.6 Sol Pro; Business Standard shares 15 messages per month, and Business Premium shares 50 messages per week between the two.
