OpenAI Unveils Codex Device with Work Louder, Imminent Launch
OpenAI is set to launch a device related to its AI-powered coding tool, Codex, on July 15. In a video posted on X on Monday, OpenAI showcases a square-shaped device with several buttons, accompanied by the caption: “Your favorite Codex shortcuts are getting an upgrade.”
This is not the mysterious AI-powered device that OpenAI is collaborating on with former Apple designer Jony Ive. As the teaser shows, OpenAI is launching this device in partnership with Work Louder, a company that offers a range of mechanical keyboards and macro pads with mappable keys, dials, and switches.
The silhouette of the device presented by OpenAI resembles the Creator Micro 2 from Work Louder, a macro pad that features 13 mechanical switches, a joystick, and a touch sensor. Users can assign shortcuts and custom actions to the switches of this device while using various applications, such as Photoshop. Figma has also collaborated with Work Louder to launch a macro pad with pre-configured shortcuts.
Neither OpenAI nor Work Louder has shared further details about their upcoming collaboration, but with a launch scheduled in just two weeks, we won’t have to wait long to learn more.
