OpenAI and Work Louder Launch the Codex Micro Joystick
OpenAI and keyboard manufacturer Work Louder have unveiled the Codex Micro, a compact hardware controller designed to work with AI agents. Instead of spending time switching between chat windows and typing commands, developers can manage their AI agents using a simplified keyboard equipped with joysticks and a rotary knob.
The first six keys light up with real-time RGB feedback to indicate the status of each agent, whether it is thinking, working, waiting for input, or finished. The joystick triggers common workflows such as code reviews, debugging, or refactoring. The rotary knob controls the reasoning level, allowing users to set how many resources the model should dedicate to a given task.
Each color represents a different status of the agent: thinking, finished, waiting for input, or error.
The device plugs directly into ChatGPT Codex, where the keys can be reconfigured. Work Louder's Input software also allows users to assign custom shortcuts to each key, button, and joystick movement across six programmable layers. The box includes 32 interchangeable keycaps with icons, enabling users to customize the physical layout to their configurations.
The Codex Micro is priced at $230, but is currently out of stock. Work Louder indicates that quantities are limited. The device connects via Bluetooth or USB-C and works with both Mac and Windows.
