Dots combines agent functions and interfaces with Microsoft
Dots consolidates features already present in Codex and other agent systems but emphasizes autonomous actions. OpenAI is collaborating with Microsoft to integrate Agent 365 security controls. The visual identity of Dots adopts a dynamic cartoon style, reminiscent of Meta's Muse agent. Dots appear as small floating characters shaped like dots.

OpenAI describes Dots as highly capable agents that are always active, designed to operate without relying on specific hardware or interfaces, and to continuously pursue user-defined goals with minimal supervision. The company also plans to introduce specialized Dots, tasked with specific responsibilities. Each dot can be assigned an identity, credentials, and particular tools through existing systems.
Availability in ChatGPT and connections to business messaging platforms
Dots will be available starting Tuesday in ChatGPT for Pro and Business Premium subscribers in eligible markets and can be launched from Codex or ChatGPT. Dots enable users to communicate via Slack, Teams, and various other platforms used in business. Compatibility with text messaging is expected to be released soon.
From the main dot to teams, with targeted use cases
Users can start with a main dot, give it a name, and customize it. OpenAI ultimately envisions teams of Dots working together for the same user. Among the proposed scenarios, a developer might deploy a dedicated dot to monitor customer feedback and implement requested fixes or features. Another example highlights a scientist using a dot to restart analyses and explore unexpected results as new experimental data comes in.
