$200 Plan Quotas Halved and Reopening Announced
OpenAI is reopening its Pro plan at $200 per month while reducing the included allocation. Sign-ups for this plan had been suspended on September 10. The allocation will now be equivalent to 10 times that of the $20 tier per month, down from 20 times previously. For these subscribers, the number of weekly messages in GPT-6 Pro will decrease from 200 to 100. A one-time credit will be granted to existing subscribers during the transition period. Thibault Sottiaux, engineering lead for Codex at OpenAI, detailed these changes in a message posted on X on Monday, noting that they result in a halving of API expenses compared to the previous plan.
New Pro 500 Tier and Ultrafast Computing for Codex
OpenAI is launching a Pro 500 plan at $500 per month, introduced during its DevDay on Tuesday. This new tier costs $300 more than the previous highest plan. It provides access to Ultrafast computing for GPT-6 Astra in ChatGPT Work and Codex, with a speed announced to be eight times faster in Codex. This subscription level also offers the largest included usage among OpenAI's offerings.
