OpenAI introduces Private Intelligence and a preview of Private Inference

OpenAI presents Private Intelligence, an approval layer aimed at enhancing enterprise customers' trust in data protection. The company claims that Zero Data Retention combined with Private Safety Processing allows for automated security reviews without OpenAI staff accessing the underlying content. A preview of Private Inference, announced for fall, is set to combine confidential computing with strict and verifiable controls. OpenAI has yet to detail the distinction between Private Intelligence and Private Inference. These announcements come as data security is seen as a major barrier to AI adoption in enterprises, with clients expressing concerns about the risk of exposing sensitive information to agents or model providers.

Collaborative Pages available, Slides on the way, and multi-editing features

OpenAI launches collaborative Pages and Slides, designed to facilitate the creation of documents and presentations with the help of ChatGPT and other team members, whether human or agent. These tools incorporate generative features such as on-page search, the addition of graphics, and images. Users can design slides conversationally or import their own templates, and multiple people or agents can edit presentations simultaneously, similar to Google Slides. It is possible to present directly from ChatGPT or export the slides to PowerPoint or Google, without disrupting the formatting according to OpenAI. Pages is available now, while Slides will be accessible in the coming weeks.

ChatGPT Space arrives for teams, Dots as agentic support

OpenAI introduces ChatGPT Space as a new workspace for teams looking to collaborate with AI. Users can work with ChatGPT, their colleagues, and a new agentic feature called Dots. Pro, Business, and Enterprise subscribers can access ChatGPT Space starting today on the desktop app and the web. Mobile access is in development.

In response to Anthropic, OpenAI aligns its suite and recalls its previous moves

OpenAI's new Pages and Slides offerings echo Anthropic's Claude Docs, integrated into the Claude Cowork consolidation, which also absorbed Claude Design and Slides. Now, document and presentation creation for both ChatGPT and Claude is situated within a central agentic base rather than in separate tools. In July, OpenAI launched ChatGPT Work in response to Claude Cowork, to separate non-programming tasks and extend agentic support to other worker profiles. Last year, OpenAI was already exploring features to transform ChatGPT into a productivity suite, including a collaborative editor similar to Google Docs, and has since launched and then discontinued the video app Sora. It is also suggested that Anthropic has dominated enterprise revenues recently, and that OpenAI is targeting Google Workspace. This repositioning comes during the fourth DevDay, following a previous edition focused on major integrations and an agent builder.

A demonstrated use: assigning a Dot in Pages comments

During a demonstration of Pages, an OpenAI representative tagged a Dot directly in the comments of the workspace, assigned feedback relayed by a colleague, and iterated on the project in the same location. This demonstration highlights the collaboration between humans and agents, as well as the ability to export presentations. The name Private Intelligence recalls Apple's Private Cloud Compute, which suggests access to OpenAI models without compromising security, while in consumer AI, obtaining better results from assistants often involves sharing more information, as seen with Gemini's Personal Intelligence.
