Reorganization at OpenAI: Departures Due to Health Reasons
OpenAI is undergoing a period of internal reorganization, a consequence of health issues affecting several of its leaders. Fidji Simo, who heads the "AGI Deployment" division, has announced a medical leave of several weeks. She is suffering from an autoimmune disease that affects her nervous system. During her absence, Greg Brockman, president of OpenAI, will take on product-related responsibilities, including super app projects.
Redistribution of Responsibilities
To address these absences, other executives at OpenAI are seeing their roles evolve. Jason Kwon, chief commercial officer, Sarah Friar, chief financial officer, and Denise Dresser, chief revenue officer, will assume additional responsibilities. This reorganization aims to maintain operational continuity and support ongoing projects.
Changes Within the Marketing Team
Kate Rouch, head of marketing, is also stepping back for health reasons. She plans to return in a reduced role once her health improves. In the meantime, Gary Briggs will temporarily replace her, ensuring the continuity of marketing activities.
New Challenges for the Chief Operating Officer
Brad Lightcap, chief operating officer, is leaving his position to join a new team dedicated to "special projects" under the direct supervision of Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI. Denise Dresser will take over most of his responsibilities. Lightcap's tasks related to government relations and the "OpenAI for Countries" program will be transferred to the strategy department.
