OpenAI Teases a Keyboard to Optimize Codex Against Claude Code
OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, is set to launch a physical keyboard. On its X account, the company teased this product through a video, announcing a presentation for July 15 and mentioning an “update” for the Codex shortcuts, its productivity tool that directly competes with Claude Code and Claude Cowork. In other words, this will be a product aimed at Codex users, designed to help them save even more time. The video also indicates that this is a collaboration between OpenAI and keyboard manufacturer Work Louder. Therefore, it is not one of the products developed in-house by OpenAI with Jony Ive, the former head of design at Apple.
As a reminder, Codex is OpenAI's AI agent platform, allowing users to delegate tasks to artificial intelligence. Codex was initially designed for coding, but has gradually expanded to other tasks, such as:
