OpenAI Unveils Dots, 24/7 Agents, and the GPT-6.1 Sol Model

During its DevDay, OpenAI unveiled Dots, personal agents powered by GPT-6.1 Sol, and ChatGPT Space, a new collaborative workspace. The GPT-6.1 Sol model is touted as being close to GPT-6 Astra at a cost reduced by five times and is available across several subscription offerings.

GPT-6.1 Sol available on multiple plans, with announced reduced cost

Dots are powered by the GPT-6.1 Sol model. OpenAI states that this model achieves an intelligence level close to GPT-6 Astra, the most powerful AI of ChatGPT to date, while being five times cheaper. GPT-6.1 Sol is available on ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu subscriptions.

Enterprise Dots in beta, configurable and specialized

OpenAI announced a beta version of specialized Dots for businesses, designed as experts in specific fields. Each Dot can be configured by the organization with its own identity, identifiers, and access to necessary systems. These agents gradually adapt based on new information and team feedback. OpenAI also plans to allow a user to collaborate simultaneously with multiple Dots.

Access, autonomy, and continuous execution for individual use

For individuals, Dots are currently reserved for ChatGPT Pro subscribers and are accessible via ChatGPT, through messaging or voice calls, as well as on Slack and Teams. These personal agents have a unique identity per user, adapt to their preferences and goals, and operate continuously on their own computer in the cloud. They can also take control of the user's computer. Compared to traditional AI tools, Dots are presented as offering greater autonomy and proactivity: they can act independently before seeking validation, automatically analyze a reported bug, design an application from a new layout, or generate and send an invoice after validation if a tester has omitted it. A Dot has the goals and constraints of its user, allowing it to intervene without receiving instructions at every step. According to OpenAI, if this service becomes widespread, users would spend less time on ChatGPT while increasing their productivity.

ChatGPT Space offers interactive pages for co-editing with AI

OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Space, a collaborative space that allows users to work with others and AI, including Dots, on documents. Users can create interactive pages that incorporate graphics, images, checklists, and dashboards. The tool is designed to fully leverage OpenAI's artificial intelligence and positions itself as a potential competitor to existing productivity suites. This new feature adds to the announcements from DevDay, alongside GPT-6.1 Sol and Dots.
