OpenClaw 2.0 Enables Real-Time Collaboration on Over 16,000 Sessions

The OpenClaw Foundation has released version 2.0 of its open-source AI platform. Described as the most significant evolution of the project, it has garnered over 16,000 pull requests and introduces three major axes: shared cloud sessions, simplified integration, and a completely rebuilt browser application.
Run agents locally, on paired devices, or via Crabbox
Sessions can be launched on the default local gateway, on the user's hardware via openclaw connect (paired devices), or on disposable machines rented through the provisioning tool Crabbox, compatible with backends like AWS and Hetzner. According to the documentation, provider credentials remain on the gateway and are never transmitted to remote machines.
Multiple users collaborate together on the same project
With shared cloud sessions, multiple users can collaborate in real-time on the same tasks, add team members to an ongoing project, or assign them tasks along with their context. These sessions allow for co-editing of content by multiple people. OpenClaw notes that its team is already using this feature to develop the platform. This new capability is part of the enhancements in version 2.0.

Streamlined onboarding with automatic resource detection
Upon first startup, the setup is simplified: the software automatically detects resources already present on the computer, such as subscriptions to ChatGPT or Claude, API keys, and local models. This detection avoids many configuration steps, and additional adjustments can be made later during a conversation with the bot. The simplified integration is one of the major new features in version 2.0.
Navigation starts with a conversation and facilitates resumption
The browser version has been completely rethought. Upon opening, a conversation starts automatically, offering the option to continue configuration, resume an ongoing session, or supervise tasks live. A compact "Session Rail" displays the progress of a session in the chat window, including evaluations, plan progress, and pull requests. An integrated discussion system allows users to ask questions about the current session without interrupting the agent. According to the documentation, the gateway only transfers a limited excerpt of the session for this discussion thread and uses a separate utility model. The release notes also mention changes regarding messaging, memory, skills, model support, automation, native applications, plugins, and security. Version 2.0, touted as the most significant to date with over 16,000 pull requests, is available as open source on GitHub.
