Perplexity Launches Teammates, Persistent Agents at $200

Perplexity introduces Teammates, always-active AI agents accessible with the Max plan at $200 per month. Each agent operates on its own virtual machine, can be tracked in the app, and is activated via Slack. The launch comes at a time when other companies have already defined the uses of their bots, coinciding with Perplexity's annualized revenue surpassing $750 million in August.
$200 per month and a crowded market with usage limits
Access to Teammates is through the Max plan, priced at $200 per month. Other companies offer comparable agents, with offerings identified under the names Grok Bots, Muse, Dots, and Duet. Dots are available starting at $100, while Duet is priced from $20. In practice, the more affordable plans are likely to quickly reach their usage limits. Recently, heavy usage of agents prompted SpaceX to further restrict the usage limits of Grok Bots.

Always-active agents, dedicated VMs, and interactions via Slack
Teammates operate continuously and autonomously manage work tasks on ongoing projects. Each agent has a dedicated virtual machine, equipped with a desktop environment and a browser. Users can monitor progress through specific threads in the Perplexity app and communicate with the agents via Slack.
Financial milestone and distinction from Perplexity Computer
In August, Perplexity's annualized revenue crossed the $750 million mark. Teammates are distinct from Perplexity Computer, which is limited to one-off interventions.
