Perplexity has recently opened access to its Mac application to the general public, introducing an innovative feature called Personal Computer. This AI agent, inspired by the Claude Cowork model, operates autonomously on your Mac, handling various tasks without human intervention, except for necessary validations.
The application, while not available on the App Store, can be downloaded directly from the Perplexity website. It offers essential features such as search, attachment management, and dictation.
Simplified Multitasking Management
Perplexity's Personal Computer is designed for those juggling multiple applications and files. It allows simultaneous access to local files, macOS applications, connected tools, and the Web. For example, by opening your Notes and pressing CMD, you can ask the tool to manage your to-do list, which it identifies and processes autonomously.
The AI agent can also organize your files, cleaning up disorganized folders and sorting them into well-named project directories. Additionally, it operates continuously, even when you are away from your Mac, allowing you to launch tasks from an iPhone.
User Control Maintained
Although the agent is autonomous, it does not make significant decisions without your consent. Each action can be undone, and you can validate certain operations from any device, ensuring that you maintain complete control over ongoing processes.
