Personal Computer: a Continuous AI Agent on Mac mini

Perplexity is innovating with its Personal Computer, an AI agent that operates continuously on a dedicated Mac mini. This system is designed to connect to the user's local applications as well as Perplexity's servers, allowing the agent to access files, sessions, and tools installed on the machine. With this setup, the agent can autonomously continue tasks even when the user is not in front of their screen. Control of the agent remains possible from any device via the Perplexity app.

To ensure user security, Perplexity has integrated safeguards. Sensitive actions require explicit validation, and each session is logged in a comprehensive audit trail. An emergency stop button is also available to allow users to immediately regain control of their machine.

Although Personal Computer is not yet available to the general public, Perplexity has opened a waiting list for interested parties. Support will be provided to early users, but no pricing has been announced at this time.

Computer for Enterprise: AI Serving Businesses

In parallel, Perplexity is launching Computer for Enterprise, a version of its AI agent designed for professional teams. This version connects to existing tools via application connectors, with announced compatibility for Snowflake, Salesforce, HubSpot, and hundreds of other platforms.

Perplexity explains that a financial analyst can, for example, request revenue data by industry from Snowflake, while a sales team can simultaneously extract CRM data and competitive information. The AI agent writes the queries, executes them, and returns structured results. Teams also have the option to set up scheduled workflows and collaborate via Slack. The offering is based on a SOC 2 Type II certified infrastructure, with SAML SSO authentication and audit logs.

API Platform: Opening Up to Developers

Perplexity is opening its infrastructure to developers with an API platform composed of four main components, which are the same building blocks used internally to power Computer:

• Search: for retrieving sourced information from the web.
• Agent: for delegating multi-step tasks autonomously.
• Sandbox: to provide a secure execution environment for developers.
• Embeddings: to support ranking and relevance systems.

Other Innovations: Comet Enterprise, Premium Sources, and Perplexity Finance

In addition to these offerings, Perplexity is rolling out three other innovations that expand the reach of its agent ecosystem:

• Premium Sources: this feature provides direct access to data from Statista, CB Insights, and PitchBook from the search interface, with sources automatically cited in the results.

• Perplexity Finance: the financial module now integrates over 40 tools for real-time data, connected to sources like SEC filings, FactSet, S&P Global, or Coinbase. No additional configuration or licensing is required.

• Comet Enterprise: Perplexity's AI browser is offered in a managed version for organizations. IT teams can define the assistant's action permissions, deploy it via existing MDM infrastructures, and review exportable activity logs. A partnership with CrowdStrike adds an extra layer of protection at the browser level.
