PSG Favorites Against Arsenal in Final: Avisia's AI Decides

As the Champions League final approaches, the artificial intelligence from the Avisia firm places Paris Saint-Germain as the favorite against Arsenal. According to the analyses of the Avisia Player Index, PSG has a 58% chance of winning the trophy, compared to 42% for the London club.

This prediction is based on a proven methodology that successfully anticipated PSG's victory against Inter Milan the previous year, where Avisia's model estimated a 62.5% chance of success for the Parisian club. The Avisia model evaluates various criteria, such as the collective value of the teams, individual performances, the opposition of playing styles, as well as the experience and physical condition of the players.

Arsenal stands out for its defensive rigor, achieving a score of 74.3, making it one of the strongest defenses in Europe. In contrast, PSG excels in build-up play and distribution, with a score of 80.6, and can rely on top offensive talents. Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia particularly stand out, with respective scores of 98 and 83 in terms of threat creation.

Julien Legavre, Head of Data & Sport at Avisia, explains that their approach involves understanding the context and needs before developing a model. This method was also applied for projections related to last year's Ballon d'Or. Avisia plans to continue working on predictions surrounding the Ballon d'Or and the upcoming World Cup.

The Avisia model, which had already demonstrated its effectiveness during the 2023 Rugby World Cup with an 80% success rate, continues to illustrate the growing importance of data in sports. Although the prediction does not guarantee the outcome of the match, it provides valuable insight into the strengths at play and possible scenarios.
