The Growing Impact of AI on the Workforce
A recent study conducted by Cognizant, an IT services company, highlights the increasing influence of artificial intelligence on the job market. This study analyzed 18,000 tasks in the workplace and revealed that 93% of jobs are now affected by AI, either directly or indirectly.
In the United States, this transformation could lead to a transfer of $4.5 trillion of human labor to automated systems. This change is occurring at a much faster pace than initially anticipated.
Forecasts Surpassed
In 2023, Cognizant had predicted that 90% of jobs would be impacted by AI by 2032. However, current data shows that this level of disruption is being reached approximately six years earlier than expected. The report also emphasizes that the rate of exposure to AI has significantly increased, rising from an annual increase of 2% to nearly 9%.
Furthermore, the potential impact of AI on professions is estimated to be 30% higher than previous forecasts, indicating a faster and broader adoption of these technologies.
Towards a Reorganization of Tasks
While some forecasts are alarming regarding AI completely replacing jobs, there are also positive perspectives. AI could enable workers to focus more on certain tasks while delegating others to technology.
In light of this evolution, it is pertinent to ask which tasks workers would be willing to entrust to AI and which ones they prefer to retain. This reflection is essential for adapting skills and roles in a rapidly changing professional environment.
