Reddit has found an innovative solution to combat the AI bots flooding its forums: using artificial intelligence itself. In a context where AI technologies often give rise to new problems on the web, Reddit has decided to employ them to solve these issues. And the results seem promising.
According to the platform's latest report, around 25,000 suspicious posts and comments are detected each day thanks to AI. Additionally, Reddit managed to block 23 million spam-related views during the first quarter of 2026. The platform has also removed nearly 2 million artificial votes daily, resulting in a 20% reduction in user exposure to unwanted content.
To achieve these results, Reddit uses language models (LLMs) capable of analyzing various indicators to identify unusual behaviors. These systems can even spot coordinated operations, such as fake popularity movements or organized campaigns, and detect behaviors that, while appearing human, conceal automated activity.
When an account or content is deemed suspicious, the sanction is applied in less than five seconds. Furthermore, Reddit can ask certain users to prove their humanity. Despite the effectiveness of these tools, Reddit emphasizes the importance of human moderation. Between July and December 2025, over 52% of content removals were carried out by human moderators.
