RingCentral Expands the Horizons of Its AI Receptionist

RingCentral, a company specializing in communication software, recently announced a significant expansion of its flagship product, the AI Receptionist, by integrating new services such as Shopify, Calendly, and WhatsApp. This initiative aims to enhance the capabilities of the tool, which now extends beyond managing incoming calls to encompass a wider range of customer service tasks.

With these new integrations, the AI Receptionist, known by the acronym AIR, is now capable of processing order requests via Shopify, managing appointment scheduling through Calendly, and responding to incoming messages on WhatsApp. Additionally, AIR integrates with shared SMS inboxes and call queues, allowing it to handle text messages and take over when phone lines are busy or staff are unavailable.

Growing Adoption Among Businesses

RingCentral revealed that over 11,800 businesses have already adopted AIR. This product is particularly popular among small and medium-sized enterprises that frequently receive incoming requests. The healthcare, financial services, legal, hospitality, and construction sectors are among the primary users of AIR, employing it for reception and management tasks outside of regular business hours.

Among notable users, Keller Interiors, a company specializing in installations for Lowe’s Home Improvement, has implemented AIR in 33 of its locations. Beth Owens, the company's chief of staff, emphasized that the tool has resolved a complex call routing issue, enabling efficient communication management without the need to create a call center. Thanks to AIR, Keller Interiors has managed to reduce wait times from 12 minutes to 90 seconds, while also increasing customer satisfaction scores by three points in just four months.

Proven Results Across Various Sectors

Another successful use case is that of Maple Federal Credit Union, where Tara Breaux, vice president of operations, noted that using AIR has reduced wait times by 90% in its branches. This improvement has not only sped up service but also alleviated pressure on staff, allowing them to focus on the most important interactions.

Enhanced Features for an Optimized Customer Experience

The integration with Shopify allows AIR to answer simple questions regarding orders and customer support over the phone. With Calendly, AIR can now schedule appointments, while the integration with WhatsApp expands its reach to this widely used messaging application among consumers and small businesses.

RingCentral has also introduced an automatic language detection feature. AIR can identify the caller's language and continue the conversation in that language, providing multilingual support in 10 languages, including English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, and Portuguese.

A Vision for the Future of AI in Business

Michelle Morgan, head of research on sales and customer service at IDC, commented on this update, highlighting that it represents a concrete example of AI application in everyday business. According to her, AIR's expansion to platforms like Shopify, Calendly, and WhatsApp, along with the enhancement of call queues, perfectly illustrates how AI can be applied to solve specific problems.

Joe Fahrner, vice president of AI product growth at RingCentral, described the expanded vision of the product, stating that AIR is becoming a true "digital employee" for small and medium-sized businesses.

Attractive Pricing Offers

RingCentral announced that the AI Receptionist is now available as a standalone product starting at $49 per month, including 100 minutes of usage. For existing RingEX customers, AIR can be added starting at $39 per month, also including 100 minutes.
