Shipt Launches Ask Shipt, AI Assistant Available on Its Platforms

Shipt launches Ask Shipt in its app and on the web. The shopping assistant relies on AI to generate ready-to-buy carts based on a query, budget, or photo. This rollout comes as other delivery platforms are deploying similar tools.
Ask Shipt is accessible with cart generation and dish photo
Ask Shipt is available in the Shipt app and on Shipt.com. Users can upload a photo of a dish seen online or at a restaurant, and the assistant identifies the ingredients and adds them to a cart. They can also request ideas based on a budget, such as a weeknight meal for a family of five for under $35. The tool can also create custom carts, like a Saturday tailgate for 25 people with brunch items, or school lunches and after-school snacks. This launch continues the additions on Target.com, including AI image search, customer review summaries, and other personalized shopping experiences.

Instacart, Uber Eats, and DoorDash also have AI assistants
Instacart has launched an AI shopping assistant named Clementine. Uber Eats and DoorDash have also launched assistants this year. With this activation, Shipt joins an increasingly long list of delivery services offering assistants in their apps and is among the latest to implement such a solution.
Shipt emphasizes the tool's purpose and its connection to Target
Shipt clarified on Wednesday that Ask Shipt is designed to enable customers to shop more intuitively and to convert queries into personalized, ready-to-buy carts. This same-day delivery platform is part of the Target group.
