SeeDance 2.0 from CapCut Expands Globally Despite Controversies
SeeDance 2.0, the video generation AI developed by CapCut, a subsidiary of ByteDance, is undergoing international expansion. While the abandonment of Sora by OpenAI surprised the industry, CapCut is moving forward with determination by rolling out SeeDance 2.0 globally.
Until recently, SeeDance 2.0 was only accessible in China, limiting its realistic video capabilities to a small audience. However, a recent announcement from CapCut revealed that the application is now available in new regions, including Africa, South America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Other regions are expected to follow soon. This announcement was made via a post on X.
The tool allows users to create 15-second videos without the need for reference images. Users can simply enter a text prompt or use sketches to generate content. Currently, this feature is reserved for a select group of paying users.
Despite the technological advancements, SeeDance 2.0 raises concerns, particularly from the American film industry, which fears unauthorized use of physical appearances or protected intellectual properties. ByteDance claims to have integrated safeguards to prevent such abuses. However, the company remains cautious about a launch in the United States and has not yet announced plans for Europe.
SeeDance 2.0 had sparked significant anger in the United States due to concerns raised last month by the American film industry regarding the illicit use of physical appearances or intellectual property protected by rights. ByteDance asserts that it has imposed strong safeguards on the AI but remains cautious about deploying it in the American market.
