SpaceX Unveils AI Smartphone to Investors
SpaceX has presented investors with a prototype of a slim device, resembling a smartphone, that would integrate xAI's technology, according to the Wall Street Journal. The device is expected to be thinner than an iPhone, operate on its own operating system, and utilize a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip. SpaceX has informed investors that the project is still in its early stages. It remains uncertain whether the device will actually be built.
Musk is pursuing the idea of a "one-stop app" inspired by Chinese super-apps like WeChat. The device could also reduce its reliance on Apple and Google, whose platforms currently host its xAI chatbot.
OpenAI is also working on its own AI devices. The current frontrunner would be an AI smartphone that also emphasizes software. An AI agent would manage all smartphone tasks for the user. OpenAI is also testing more unusual formats, such as a pin, a smart speaker, or a digital voice recorder.
