SpaceX Acquires Cursor and Promises Access to Its GPU Fleet

Cursor announces that it has been acquired by SpaceX and highlights future access to a fleet of GPUs touted as the largest on the market. Elon Musk's group is already leasing its infrastructure to clients such as Anthropic and Google and is facing a lawsuit related to its data center. This operation follows an agreement from April that included a purchase option for $60 billion and a stage where SpaceX became public.

Cursor aims for the largest GPU fleet by joining SpaceX

Cursor claims that once integrated, it will gain access to what it describes as the largest GPU fleet in the world. The company adds that SpaceX is building computing capacity aimed at evolving intelligence beyond what currently exists, presenting Cursor as a place where this intelligence will become useful. In the closing announcement, Cursor emphasizes SpaceX's computing infrastructure. This infrastructure is leased to clients such as Anthropic and Google. Additionally, SpaceX is facing a lawsuit regarding pollution generated by the gas turbines at its data center.

April agreement and $60 billion purchase option

In April, SpaceX announced a partnership with Cursor aimed at collaborating on technologies, including a clause that gave SpaceX the option to acquire Cursor for $60 billion. Two months later, as SpaceX went public, both companies indicated that they were progressing toward finalizing the acquisition. Earlier that same year, SpaceX had also acquired xAI.
