Thailand: OpenAI and MHESI Launch Eight-Week AI Accelerator

OpenAI and the Thai Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation have partnered for an eight-week program aimed at ten startups. Focused on health, well-being, and education, it will culminate in a Demo Day in Bangkok in November and is part of a long-term strategy to develop reliable AI products designed in Thailand.
A Demo Day in November and a Path Toward Implementation
The program will conclude with a Demo Day in Bangkok in November. The selected startups will unveil either an operational product or a major evolution, present user feedback as well as initial evaluation results, and outline a credible roadmap for integration. This event will bring together investors, public agencies, academic institutions, hospitals, schools, potential clients, and other stakeholders who can facilitate the transition from prototypes to sustainable adoption. OpenAI indicates that this first cohort marks the launch of a long-term initiative aimed at creating a replicable model to support Thai entrepreneurs in developing reliable AI solutions and to promote innovations from Thailand on an international scale.
Dedicated Mentorship and $2,000 in API Credits per Team
Each startup will receive $2,000 in API credits, benefit from personalized technical support, and gain access to the latest models offered by OpenAI. A mentor will be assigned to each group throughout the program, leading weekly workshops focused on product design, engineering, test automation, evaluation, responsible AI, privacy and security management, cost optimization, development, and financing. Over the eight weeks, founders will collaborate with OpenAI mentors as well as with technology networks, researchers, and startup communities present in Thailand.
A Public-Private Initiative Supported by Thai Partners
This initiative represents the first public-private collaboration between OpenAI and the Thai government to support local startups. It is being implemented with the National Innovation Agency, Mahidol University, and Techsauce. The ministry will connect teams with the country’s research and talent networks, while the NIA will link them to the funding and growth ecosystem. Mahidol University will provide academic expertise and mentors. The program announcement took place in Bangkok.

Ten Startups Targeting Health, Well-Being, and Education
The cohort includes ten startups, five focused on medical AI and well-being, and five on education. The selected companies are CARIVA, Wello Food, Dietz, Precisionize, FitSloth, Curico, insKru, Floaino, EasyKids Robotics, and Globish. The selection was made in collaboration with the National Innovation Agency, the Ministry of Education, and the MHESI innovation network, and includes teams that participated in the AIAT × OpenAI Codex Hackathon Bangkok earlier this year. Each startup is concentrating on a specific problem, and the accelerator is expected to help them combine their sector expertise with cutting-edge AI capabilities. A specific product, pilot, evaluation, or commercialization goal is anticipated for the eight-week period.
A Thai Market Already Ranked in the Top 20 for ChatGPT and Codex
Thailand ranks among the top twenty countries with the highest number of weekly active users of ChatGPT. Since the beginning of 2026, the weekly usage frequency of Codex in the country has increased by more than 350 times, allowing Thailand to also enter the top 20 for this tool. According to OpenAI, this trend reflects a growing use of AI by Thais to write software, develop products, and perform various tasks. The country has a strong technical talent pool and recognized expertise in health and education, in a context of demographic aging that increases demand for care, prevention, and independent living. Improving learning outcomes and preparing for the digital economy are also seen as essential for the country’s future competitiveness. The acceleration program aims to transform promising prototypes into ready-to-use products, relying on rigorous testing, user feedback, robust guarantees, and adapted business models, which is particularly crucial in the health and education sectors.
