TikTok Tests an AI Tool to Report Lookalikes
TikTok is beginning to test an optional tool that scans for AI-generated lookalikes and allows creators to report them to the company, as noted by social media consultant Matt Navarra. The tool is initially being tested with "a few" creators in the United States, according to Zachary Kizer, a spokesperson for TikTok US.
YouTube has also been working on a similar tool and recently made it available to all adult users.
Creators participating in TikTok's test who wish to use the tool will first need to verify their identity through a company called Jumio. They will have to perform a real-time selfie scan and identity verification, but Kizer clarifies that "TikTok does not retain identity documents, and facial information is only used for lookalike matching and to help identify unauthorized uses of a creator's image."
After verification, TikTok's system scans AI-generated content that potentially uses a creator's likeness. From there, a creator can review what TikTok has found and potentially report unauthorized posts and accounts.
