This pill-shaped black area, located at the top of the screen, is already used to display live activities and interactive updates. This change aims to enhance the user experience for quick voice queries or searches, similar to how Siri is currently utilized.

A New AI-Powered Search Mode

Apple is introducing a new mode that will make Siri-powered search more accessible. By capitalizing on users' muscle memory, the gesture of swiping down on the screen will open Spotlight Search.
