A New Tool to Detect AI-Generated Music
Deezer, the music streaming platform, has recently unveiled an innovative tool capable of identifying tracks generated by artificial intelligence (AI). For those who are not fond of these digital creations, this new feature could prove invaluable. This detector is not limited to the Deezer ecosystem and can also analyze the music libraries of other popular platforms.
How Deezer's Detector Works
Using this tool is relatively straightforward. Users must visit the online detector provided by Deezer, select their preferred streaming service, and then connect their account. Once permission is granted, the tool analyzes playlists and music libraries to identify tracks that may have been created by artificial intelligence.
What is particularly interesting is that the tool is accessible even to non-subscribers of Deezer. Users of competing platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, or YouTube Music can also benefit from it. After the analysis, the service displays a percentage indicating the proportion of detected artificial tracks. According to Deezer's management, this analysis could hold some surprises for users. Apparently, nearly one in two users joining Deezer from another platform already has AI-generated titles in their playlists, often without realizing it.
The Scope of the AI Music Phenomenon
Since the beginning of 2025, Deezer has already been using this technology internally. The collected data has allowed the company to measure the extent of the phenomenon. On average, the platform receives about 75,000 new AI-generated tracks every day. This impressive volume reflects how easily these contents can now be produced and disseminated.
Thanks to its detection systems, Deezer has been able to identify over 13.4 million AI-created titles. These tracks are then labeled as such to inform users. Furthermore, the platform specifies that they are excluded from its algorithmic recommendations, ensuring that they are not artificially promoted to listeners.
The Music Industry Confronts AI
For several years, the music industry has been watching the rise of AI with a degree of concern. These technologies allow for the production of complete songs, with vocals, instruments, and arrangements, sometimes in just a few clicks. The phenomenon has grown to such an extent that several industry players have begun to react.
Among them are companies like Bandcamp, Sony, and Deezer, each seeking to better regulate this new reality. The French platform had already expressed alarm a few months ago over a striking observation: according to its findings, 97% of listeners cannot distinguish a song created by human musicians from a track generated by AI.
For Deezer, the issue goes beyond mere technology. It also touches on transparency and user information. The company claims to have been working on this detection system for a year and a half, aiming to provide listeners with greater visibility into the content they are actually listening to.
