YouTube recently unveiled an innovative tool that allows content creators to digitally clone themselves. With this new feature, users can generate avatars that replicate their appearance and voice, making it easier to create videos for YouTube Shorts without needing to be physically present in front of the camera.
Google clarified that this tool ensures the security of users' likenesses. Only the creator can generate and control their avatar, thus preventing any unauthorized use. While other users can remix videos containing these avatars, they cannot modify or control the avatar itself.
In the event of avatar deletion, all associated data, such as selfie videos and voice recordings, are permanently erased from the platform. YouTube assures that every video produced with these avatars will be marked as AI-generated, thereby enhancing transparency for viewers.
Neal Mohan, CEO of YouTube, emphasized that artificial intelligence is designed to be a tool for expression, not a substitute. Despite the challenges posed by AI-generated content, YouTube continues to integrate these technologies to enrich the user experience.
