Vox Group Launches Aura: Live Translation and Integrated Subtitles
Key Takeaways
1Aura, the guiding technology from Vox Group, offers simultaneous translation in up to 200 languages and live subtitles, without requiring a smartphone from the visitor's side
2The system operates through the radio infrastructure used by Vox for 25 years and allows multiple comment channels to run in parallel
3An AI companion based on verified content assists the guide without replacing them
Why it matters : Aura enables the gathering of multilingual audiences and integrates accessibility at the heart of guided tours, while maintaining human expertise.

Vox Group is introducing a new version of Aura, its AI-based guidance solution designed for group tours. Among its features are real-time translation in up to 200 languages, instant subtitle display, and management of multiple channels, all without requiring smartphones for visitors. The company highlights an assistance AI built from verified content, which complements the guide's role without replacing it.

A Unique Tour Welcomes Multiple Profiles and Languages

Aura manages several streams of commentary simultaneously during the same tour, whether it’s a standard commentary, a historical dive, a child-friendly version, or a translated stream. Each participant follows the version that suits them without the guide having to repeat themselves. For operators, a single departure can now group visitors who previously had to be separated by language, with a tour that adjusts to each individual in real time. Accessibility is integrated: deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals receive live subtitles on their own phones while the guide speaks, allowing them to keep pace with the group. No separate equipment is needed, and no one is visibly identified as needing specific support; this assistance is part of the core product. Simultaneous translation can operate in up to four languages within the same tour, without requiring an app, download, or smartphone on the guest's side. Aura is offered to cruise companies, tour operators, DMCs, and destination experience partners.

Live Translation: 200 Languages, Existing Radio, Zero Apps

Aura's translation library has expanded from 50 to 200 languages in just one year. Up to four different languages can be broadcast simultaneously during a departure. Visitors have no apps to download or installations to perform: audio transmission is done through the radio network already used by Vox for 25 years. Access is designed to be instant, without requiring specific devices from the participants.

An Assistance AI Framed by Verified Content

The main evolution of Aura is an AI companion that draws only from content approved by operators and verified sources. It provides answers when an unexpected question arises and can add local details, such as place names or regional expressions. The displayed approach is to keep the guide as the main voice and use the AI to expand the range of knowledge available, without generating the tour in its place. “A guide speaks once, and each guest receives a tour tailored for them in their own language, managed from a single application,” says Fabio Primerano, who sees more content for guides and more to sell for operators. Founder Elio Epifani recalls the initial principle – a radio for everyone to hear – and emphasizes that this principle remains, even as the scope of the technology has changed.

A 25-Year Player, Present in 150+ Countries, and Available Now

Vox Group, a privately held family business, has been operating for 25 years and claims a presence in over 150 countries with cruise companies, tour operators, DMCs, and experience partners. Starting from a simple radio link to carry the guide's voice to an entire group, the company has developed group guiding equipment and, more recently, Aura, its AI-powered software component. Vox states that it dedicated last year to revamping this technology. The update comes as the company celebrates its 25th anniversary. Aura is now available to the mentioned stakeholders.

From Specialized Equipment to Integration, in a Sector Seeking Balance

Until now, multilingualism was often handled by splitting groups by language or adding an interpreter, more costly and complex solutions that do not adapt well to departures mixing nationalities, increasingly common in both city and cruise settings. On a larger scale, translation and accessibility tools that required specialized equipment or dedicated personnel are now being integrated into existing infrastructures. The travel industry is still seeking the right place for AI without undermining the human interactions expected by customers; Vox's approach, which extends the role of the guide rather than replacing it, is presented as an operational response.
