Yelp Enhances Its AI Chatbot with New Integrations
Yelp recently announced a major update to its chatbot assistant, transforming the platform into a true digital concierge. This evolution is part of a series of AI-focused updates aimed at making the AI more relevant and useful for users while leveraging the vast data generated by them.
According to Yelp, the Yelp Assistant will now be at the center of the user experience within the app. It will be able to answer questions, make recommendations, and manage reservations, all within a single conversation. A new "Assistant" tab has been introduced, covering all available categories on Yelp, marking a significant expansion from its initial launch in 2024, where it served as a tool for hiring service professionals.
Expanded Integrations and Features
Yelp's chatbot is also enriched with a set of integrations with third-party applications. Users will be able to order takeout or deliveries through services like DoorDash and Grubhub. They will also be able to request quotes from local professionals, ranging from automotive services to pet care, and book appointments with beauty, wellness, fitness, and health providers via Vagaro and Zocdoc.
Yelp plans to soon add support for Yelp Waitlist, as well as an integration with Calendly to facilitate appointment scheduling.
A Major Evolution According to Yelp
Craig Saldanha, product director at Yelp, described this update as the most significant evolution of the company's AI product to date. He added that this is just the beginning of a more conversational, personalized, and action-oriented Yelp experience.
