YouTube Named First in Google's Health AI Insights

YouTube Named First in Google's Health AI Insights
Key Takeaways
1YouTube is mentioned in 53.1% of Google’s AI snippets on vitamins and supplements
2AI citations diverge from organic results, with only 32.4% of pages in common
3GoodRx, Healthline, Cleveland Clinic, and nih.gov follow YouTube in the ranking of cited sites
Why it matters : The results illustrate YouTube's influence in the responses generated by Google’s AI and show that the cited sources often differ from traditional organic links.

A follow-up of 50 queries over a week shows that YouTube is the most frequently cited source by Google’s AI summaries for searches related to vitamins and supplements. AI citations often diverge from recorded organic results, with a page overlap of 32.4%. GoodRx, Healthline, Cleveland Clinic, and nih.gov follow at a distance.

AI citations diverge from organic links and vary by query

Searcherries observes that only 32.4% of the pages cited by AI summaries appear in the collected organic results for the same search, compared to 67.6% that do not. When expanding the match to the site level rather than the page level, the overlap reaches 52.5%, indicating that some citations link to another page of a domain already present in the organic results. Daily stability depends on the query: for “supplements for weight loss,” nih.gov appears every day and YouTube six days a week, while other sites come and go. In contrast, “supplements to help with glp-1 side effects” consistently returns the same cited pages throughout the week. The overlap calculation was performed query by query, counting repetitions to the same page only once, based on organic lists of seven to ten results.

A daily follow-up of 50 Autocomplete queries over a week in New York

The protocol is based on tracking 50 daily searches from August 30 to September 5, 2026, selected from Google Autocomplete and covering topics such as hair growth, energy, sleep, anxiety, or weight loss. For each of these searches, an AI summary was obtained, which is the summary generated by Google in addition to the usual results, retrieved in English (United States) on a computer for the city of New York. In total, the analysis encompasses 350 AI summaries and 5,036 citation occurrences, spread across 572 distinct pages and 218 sites. The sites were ranked according to the number of responses citing them, with a single count per site and per response.
